Diktet "Gamle Norig" ble utgitt i 1863 i boka "Symra". Det er skrevet av Ivar Andreas Aasen (1813-1896) og kom i overgangen mellom nasjonalromantikken og realismen. (Old Norway)

Gamle Norig, nørdst i Grendom,

er vaart eiget Ættarland.



ENG: Old Norway is our own ancestral land.

Der er Vikar og Votn og Øyar,

Dalar, der Fossen diger fell.

bygd og bøtt som Bonden vil.

Van til Møda, meir en til Kjæla,

leikar Lyden paa Land og Sjo.



ENG: Accustomed to hardship more than to playfulness, the people's song plays on land and sea.
