<div class="JBMCode"> Luke Thompson is an English Language teacher from London but now he teaches English at a university in Paris, while working on other projects including Luke’s English Podcast. He started Luke’s English Podcast in 2009. He is also a stand-up comedian, which means that he likes to stand up in front of audiences of people, and make them laugh.  <br /><br />

He has experience of teaching courses in business English, academic English, legal English, general English and English for exam courses like FCE, IELTS and BEC.  <br /><br />

He graduated from Liverpool John Moore’s University in 1999 with a BA Hons degree in Media and Cultural Studies. He worked at various media production companies before going into English language teaching. He took his CELTA in 2001 and then his Higher Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) in 2006 at UCL. <br /><br />

He writes a lot of ELT materials, and he develops a lot of courses in business English and EAP. He has written original courses for English for the Pharmaceutical Industry, English for the Oil and Gas Industries and English for Journalists, as well as communication skills workshops in presentations, meetings and negotiations. He is a semi-published author with some of his work being used in materials publications in several countries.</div> <br /> <br />

More than for most subjects, history is the key to language, because the very fabric of a language – its vocabulary, its grammar, its spelling, and so on – is a living record of its past. Romanian Professor Suzana Carmen Cismas states that “the widespread Internet, the American dream, the American way of life and the American culture have come to symbolize what is up-to-date and fashionable, becoming increasingly international and imitated around the world”. This can be seen as a threat to local traditions and national identities and some people fear that they will be wiped out. I wonder, however, if those who fear an Americanization through the media are exaggerating or if that is in fact what is going on at the moment ... <br />  <br />

I løpet av året har dere i klassen gått gjennom de emnene som er relevante for eksamen, og du har dermed stiftet bekjentskap med mange ord og vendinger som er gode å ha til eksamen. <br /> <br />

Lag en liste på dataen din eller et stykke papir, der du samler de glosene som du har lært til hvert emne. På denne måten vil du på selve eksamensdagen ha en ordliste med ord, vendinger og idiomatiske uttrykk som du kan bruke i oppgaven din.  <br />

Skriv notater til ting du kan komme inn på i de forskjellige delene av oppgaven. (Lag ev. et tankekart/brainstorming [Husk Design Thinking]).<br /> 
    Notater kan f.eks. være med mulige delemner til diskusjon, argumenter, poeng, gode sitater, eksempler og perspektiv. <br /> 
    Prøv å lage en disposisjon for hvordan du kan tenke deg å bygge opp oppgaven din, og hvilke ting du vil ha med i de forskjellige delene. <br /> <br />

<u>B. Skrivning: ca. 2 timer.</u> <br /> <br />

Begynn med å bare skrive fritt uten å stoppe deg selv. Ofte skal man “skrive seg varm” før man skriver godt [Don't be meticulous]. Ikke tenk for mye over språket i første omgang (men husk selvfølgelig å skrive på engelsk). <br /> <br />

Deretter bør du skrive gjennom hele teksten igjen, og gjøre språket så flytende [transitional words] og sammenhengende som mulig. Språket er veldig viktig i bedømmelsen [utvid ordforrådet ditt].<br /> 
    Vær kritisk til det du har skrevet og omformuler eller slett de svakeste delene. Tenk over at det skal være god sammenheng i oppgaven.<br /> <br />

<u>C. Korrektur: ca. 15 min.</u> <br /> <br />

Tips til selve prøven:<br /> <br />

    Skriv, skriv, skriv: Hvis du står fast med en del av oppgavene, går du bare videre med en annen del.<br />
    Skriv oppgavene gjennom mer enn en gang. Andre og tredje gang man skriver gjennom en oppgave skaper man alltid bedre sammenheng og flyt i oppgaven. <br />
    Prøven varer i 5 timer, så det er viktig at du har med vann og mat, slik at du kan få litt ekstra energi underveis.

The poetry written by Langston Hughes further explains the points discussed in The Souls of Black Folk. W.E.B. DuBois asserts the fact that black people should be recognized as a key part of the formation of America. In The Souls of Black Folk, DuBois is neither trying to “Africanize America” nor “bleach his Negro soul.” Langston Hughes’s poetry reiterates the subjects aroused by DuBois. Hughes expresses how black people represent a key part of America’s formation. He argues that Black people are just as deserving as whites to call themselves American. DuBois writes how the blacks as a people have made an impact in the world, giving reference to the great pyramids of Egypt. Both of these writers discuss how blacks are deserving of recognition as a vital part of America’s success.

The poem “I Too” shows the blacks as a whole as being a neglected “brother” in a family. This “brother” however feels that he has grown strong enough to be entitled to a seat “at a table when company comes.” This statement is a demonstration of the black people’s struggle to gain at least some shreds of respect and some acknowledgement and for the right to call themselves American.
